Accelerate Medical Device Development Using SIMULIA CST Studio Suite
This video will showcase SIMULIA’s CST Studio Suite for electromagnetic simulation, and how it can accelerate Life Sciences and Healthcare innovation. We will also demonstrate the power of using collaborative and integrated design and modeling & simulation (MODSIM) to create and evaluate conceptual designs early in the development process, help optimize design performance, and democratize simulations i.e., empower designers, engineers, and analysts to collaborate.
Topics of discussion include:
• Detailed examples of using modeling and electromagnetic simulation to explore and improve medical device performance, evaluate potential patient treatment and maintain a safer environment for patien...

Testing a Heat Exchanger with SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.14 дней назад
Heat exchangers work by using metal plates to pull heat away from pipes filled with warm fluids. In this video, Sam Oanes from GoEngineer demonstrates how you can use SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation to quickly find the steady state of a heat exchanger. He explains the different studies you can run, why you might pick one over another, and shows the results of his test. This video is an excerpt from ...
Prevent Overheating with SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation

When you're designing an electronics enclosure, you need to make sure that proper airflow and ventilation will keep your designs cool. SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation is a prime candidate to simulate the cooling of your electronic designs. In this clip from our recent webinar, Sam explains how he uses SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation to observe the cooling of his design. He walks you through the parameter...
How to Align Multiple Scans in Creaform VXmodel
Просмотров 31821 день назад
In this video, using Creaform’s VXmodel software, I show how to align multiple scans together, irrespective of the software’s origin. Normally, a single scan is aligned to the origin and then the Reverse Engineering process begins. Here, I show where a user may want to leave the scans in their assembly location, or just align the scans to show how the parts interact with each other. Perhaps the...

ngl i just use 10-24 bolts of varying lengths w/ 5mm diameter smooth holes that then get tapped by the bolt while turning it the first couple times (w/ flush wider hole for the head, gotta keep the design clean). If i need an even stronger bond I make room for a hex nut on the other end of the part.

printing with more clearance helps a lot too. A UNC1 thread is going to print like a UNC3 thread. Keep the pitch but change your root diameters

also, model the threads to real world standards so you can use a tap and die to chase the parts.

Is it possible to simulate the cooling time? For example, I would like to find the time it takes for an aluminum pipe at 70 degrees to become 50 degrees. There is natural convection and the atmospheric temperature is 20 degrees.

and the bonus of doing it this way with the two sides of the screw filed off, if you ever want the screw to stay in forever, you can just pour some resin/glue down the holes

This can be a problem on metal parts too, specifically tight bores and shafts, if the turned parts have a similar surface roughness then they will bind up much easier than you would expect for their size

The solution I use is just going real crazy with clearance. 0.8mm gap or so. If i need there to be friction thats what blue tak is for. 3DP threads are insanely reliable with wide tolerance.

The best solution, carry on printing your female threads in parts and use actual bolts for the male side. I’ve had 0 issues so far. You do need to design your threads to be long enough to take the load, similar to the way aluminium threaded parts need more threads than equivalent steel ones.

Cutting the screw in half and laying the halves on their flat faces can also be an option. This is the strongest way to print a screw, but it can only be used in cases that the internal threads of the part will hold the screw together.
